BNF changes warning labels thanks to Luto research
Luto Research played a prominent role in the recent revision of the medicine label wordings used nationally by pharmacists. These are the instructions and warnings for prescription medicines which pharmacists use on the labels they attach to all medicine packs. They had not been revised for 30 years, and the BNF approached Luto Director, Professor Theo Raynor, to propose that the wordings be User Tested – in line with the medicine leaflets inside the medicine packs. The new wordings, included in BNF Edition 61, are the result of this testing which involved three rounds using nearly 200 members of the public. After each round, Luto used its expertise in information writing and design to address the problems identified.
